Honeywell FENZY BIO-S-CAPE Manual
Rapid checks before use • Ensure that at 15°C the continuous cylinder pressure indicator displays a pressure matching the cylinder's maximum filling pressure. • If the displayed pressure is lower, do not use the apparatus because its supply time would be less. The apparatus must be checked and refilled. • Check that the closure seal on the carrying bag is not damaged or broken. If it is, do not use the FENZY BIO-S-CAPE. Putting on the apparatus Never use an apparatus with a damaged seal. • Put the strap of the FENZY BIO-S-CAPE around the neck. (figure 4) • Open the bag while holding it with one hand, using the other to pull the handle. The seal is broken automatically. (figure 5) • The pressure reducing valve is activated automatically and the air contained in the cylinder is immediately released to flow continuously into the hood. (figure 6) • Take the respiratory hood out of the bag and check that breathing air is reaching it and the cushion. (figure 7) - If air is not entering the hood or the cushion, ensure that the pin of the pressure reducer is out of the cylinder head and pull on the cylinder head. (figure 8) • Put the hood on as follows: - To put on the hood, put the palms of your hands together and put your hands through the rubber seal that keeps the hood sealed against the neck. Then pull your hands apart to open the hood. (figure 9) - Make sure that finger nails or rings do not tear the neck seal and that clothing or hair are not caught in the seal. (figure 10) - Make sure that the internal mouth and nose half mask covers the wearer's nose and mouth. • Breathe normally, and leave the hazardous area by heading towards the safest place or to the emergency exit. (figure 11) Use • While using the FENZY BIO-S-CAPE, breathe normally and check the continuous cylinder pressure indicator periodically. • Be careful not to snag the hood's air supply hose, which could tear the hood off. Do not strike the apparatus. • The warning whistle sounds until all the breathing air in the cylinder is used up. To take off the hood, insert your thumbs inside the neck seal and remove the hood. Never let go of the Breathing Apparatus or drop it on the ground. The routine maintenance operations briefly described below must be performed by personnel qualified and authorised by HONEYWELL. Complete details are given in the BIO-S- CAPE INSPECT AND REPAIR MANUAL. ROUTINE MAINTENANCE Filling the cylinders The cylinders must be refilled with air in accordance with current regulations. You may only fill cylinders that: • Comply with the legislation and also have a compliant cylinder valve. The test date and stamp of the approved organisation must be marked in the cylinder body, and must not have expired. • Do not have any defect liable to give rise to an incident risk (e.g. defective cylinder valve). • Do not show any visible signs of humidity (water drops) at the threaded connection. The humidity content in breathing air is an important consideration for the proper working of respiratory apparatuses. As a result, make sure that: • The cylinders contain breathing air complying with standard EN12021, which specifies some data under normal conditions of use, that is to say atmospheric pressure and ambient temperature. • If they are unintentionally emptied completely, have them completely dried by personnel qualified and authorised by HONEYWELL. Cylinder valves are fragile components. Make a visual inspection after each use. Official inspections by approved bodies: In accordance with the regulations applicable to pressure devices, compressed-air cylinders for respiratory apparatuses are required to undergo inspections by an approved body. The body marks the cylinder with the inspection date and its stamp using a durable marking process. Cleaning, disinfecting and drying These operations must only be performed by an agent authorised by HONEYWELL. After each use: • The breathing apparatus must be cleaned. • The breathing hood must be cleaned and disinfected if necessary. Cleaning Firstly, clean the soiled and/or contaminated components with warm water and a sponge, adding a universal cleaning agent (soapy solution), then wipe with a clean wet sponge. Never keep the FENZY BIO-S-CAPE on the head if the noise of air arriving in the hood is not clearly audible or if the cylinder is empty. After use • Take off the breathing hood. Take off the FENZY BIO-S-CAPE. •
