Put the fire helmet on and turn the ratchet clockwise until the fire helmet fits comfortably but tightly. VERTICALLY ADJUSTING THE FIRE HELMET There are four catches on the headband adapters for connecting to four black fastening pins on the inner lining (Fig. 2). To adjust the headband higher or lower, simply press the catches firmly onto the black pins according to the desired setting. The fire helmet gives you even more vertical adjustment options by letting you change the position of the headband adapters. Vertical adjustment of the fire helmet (Fig.3). VISOR MOUNTING, PROTECTIVE PERFORMANCE, REPLACEMENT The visor has an adjusting screw on each of the right and left sides, which can be used to lock the visor in place. The visor assembly itself screws into the adapter and is released by pressing on the two locking tabs. The visor serves as face protection with limitations in the case of extreme temperatures and flying particles. It is recommended to remove the visor during an inside attack. The performance of the visor has been tested in the temperature range from -40° to +50°C. Components not marked “BT” should not be used under extreme temperatures. CHIN STRAP First, adjust the neck strap by the buckle so that the chin strap comes to rest as far forward as possible under the chin. You adjust the length of the chin strap using the two buckles on the right and left of the chin strap. The chin strap opens and closes by the buckle. The chin strap meets the requirements of the standard for the restraint system if the chin strap supplied by the manufacturer is worn and adjusted in accordance with these regulations. REPLACING PARTS For replacing parts or cleaning, the helmet can be disassembled quickly and easily. To do so, unscrew the four Allen screws on the chin strap mount. A matching Allen key is included with each helmet. CLEANING AND STORAGE OF FIRE HELMETS Always keep your fire helmet clean. If necessary, clean it before you examine it. Do not use the helmet if it is still wet after use or cleaning. WARNING ONLY COMPLETELY CLEAN AND DRY FIRE HELMETS MAY BE WORN. FAILURE TO READ, UNDERSTAND AND FOLLOW THIS INSTRUCTION AND WARNING CAN CAUSE DEATH OR SERIOUS INJURY. Manual Cleaning Do not use abrasive cleaners, benzine or solvents such as acetone, alcohol or similar to clean fire helmets. The universal cleaning agents Secusept™ Cleaner (0.5–1.0% solution) and the disinfectant Incidur are approved, as well as mild soapy water or an alternative detergent that does not damage the helmet. • Wipe helmet shell and all plastic parts of the interior lining with a damp cloth, then rub dry. • Clean the visor with lukewarm soapy water or alcohol-free glass cleaner, then rinse and wipe dry. • Remove straps and fabric of the interior lining then wash and disinfect them in a wash bag together with the duty clothing. Machine Cleaning WARNING! The fire service helmet is subject to very strong mechanical loads during machine cleaning. The helmet can be damaged and rendered unsafe for use if the Machine Cleaning instructions are not followed. The fire helmet can be washed in the washing machine when following these instructions: • Pack helmet in a padded wash bag • Load washing machine so that only one additional helmet would fit into the drum • Preselect “swivel program” for respirators • Start wash • Rinse four times Approved cleaning agents are: Eltra disinfecting detergent, manufacturer: Ecolab Dosage: 5g Eltra per 1 L fresh water Water temperature: 62°C ± 2°C Storage: Store and transport your fire helmet so that it is protected from moisture, preferably in the original packaging • Dry helmet thoroughly Cleaning Agents:

MODIFICATIONS TO THE HELMET WARNING!

Do not modify this helmet or use parts or accessories not approved by Bullard and listed in these user Instructions. Using non-approved parts or accessories will void the fire helmet’s certification and can impact the performance of the helmet. FAILURE TO READ, UNDERSTAND AND FOLLOW THIS INSTRUCTION AND WARNING CAN CAUSE DEATH OR SERIOUS INJURY. The standard version of your helmet complies with the applicable standards and therefore must not be modified or fitted with third-party components. Only use the spare parts and accessories approved by Bullard. The addition of non approved accessories can invalidate the type examination certificate of your helmet and can affect the insurance coverage. Only wear the helmet when it is fully assembled. LIFE AND MAINTENANCE OF YOUR BULLARD FIRE HELMET Your fire helmet is designed to absorb some of the energy of an impact. In addition, the fire helmet protects against flames, sparks, high temperatures and liquid chemicals. The fire helmet can be damaged or even destroyed while protecting against these hazards. Replace your helmet IMMEDIATELY after a hard impact, even if there is no apparent damage on the outside. The same applies if the fire helmet has been exposed to extreme heat such as a flashover. NEVER use a damaged helmet. It must be repaired – if possible – or rendered unusable. The length of your fire helmet’s service life is affected by the materials used in its construction, as well as the environment in which the helmet is used and stored. Recommendations on this topic should be sought from the manufacturer. This fire helmet with its painted shell made of high-strength and temperature resistant composite has excellent aging resistance and if undamaged does not undergo any changes due to sunlight (UV radiation). The service life of the fire helmet is mainly limited by mechanical, thermal and chemical stresses. The composite used in your helmet is considered very resistant to these stresses. The service life is further impacted by the extent and diligence of care and maintenance. It is the responsibility of your fire department’s management to decide when the helmet is to be removed from service. In case of doubt and for checking your fire helmet, contact your local distributor or Bullard Europe directly. Conduct a check of the helmet shell, interior, strapping and accessories at regular intervals and after each use.
