STANDARDS

AS/NZS 1801: 1997 Australian and New Zealand standard for Hard Hats.

According to the AS/NZS 1801 standard, helmets are classified in: Type 1: General Industrial Safety Helmets Type 2: Helmets intended for high temperature working places Type 3: Helmets intended for bushfire fighting.

This standard describes the requirements safety helmets must fulfil, describing details for helmets construction, materials of the shell and head harness and the mechanical strength. Main test includes: shock absorption, stiffness test, resistance to penetration, electrical resistance and thermal performance test.

EN 812: 2012 Industrial Bump Caps European standard for bump caps for industry, describing mandatory impact and penetration tests.

EN 397: 2012 European Standard for industrial safety helmets

This standard specifies the physical and performance requirements (for example, shock absorption and resistance to penetration) for safety helmets, intended to provide protection against falling objects.
